This month's podcast is dedicated to the TextureDJs who produce one of my favorite podcasts anywhere, "Transatlantic Grooves." The TextureDJs play some of the most eclectic genres of music from brokenbeat, to jazz, to funk. Their sets seem to be somewhere between old and new, full of warm vintage charm, almost as if you were listening to your old 45's.

Unfortunately the TextureDJs seem to be M.I.A. winking
Last I have heard, "A few trips to Kenya have gotten in the way of regular podcasting." I hope all is well fellas, and, I just wanted you guys to know that there are quite a few people out here having withdrawals without our monthly doseage! smiley

If you believe that imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, then lets continue! This month I have put together my own eclectic mix of old and new to come up with my own "vintage 45 sound." I have found some terrific brokenbeat, funk, and jazz as well as a couple of excellent mashups that will transport you back to more simple times. In fact, I even whipped together a couple mashups of my own for this one!"

This show is all over the place, but, was quite fun to create and is bound to leave you with a smile on your face. Enjoy!

Here is this month's tracklist...

01. DJ Frane- A Story I Heard

02. Aleksi Virta- The Giant Catch 22

In the past year I have been given the opportunity to seek out independent artists and labels that I dig, and, to try to give them the credit that they truly deserve by hopefully providing a medium that they can use to expose the world to what they do best.

While my doors are always open, last month I put out an "open call" for independent artists to submit their music AND, for listeners to recommend artists that I might enjoy. I had a great response and this month's show has been defined by the people that contacted me!

In this month's episode of the "Chill with the Chola" podcast, I would like to introduce you to a selection of music submitted from new artists and, new music from old friends of the show. The show is an eclectic mix of genres from underground hip-hop, nu-jazz, chillout, and downtempo and mixing this set has left me feeling kind of like a mad scientist. Well, maybe like a crazy conductor of a super cool symphony! smiley
ENJOY!

Thanks to all of you that contacted me this month!

I decided it was time to get back to some Jazz influenced music this month and found a great selection of songs. I played this set at a little dinner party this weekend and it was the perfect tonal background for a great meal and intimate conversation. Enjoy!

Next month I would love to post a show created entirely with listener submitted music. I have received quite a few promotional CD's, Albums, and MP3's alike from independent artists, record labels, and fans of the show. So, if you are a downtempo artist, or, know someone who is, feel free to contact me at chola @ podomatic.com to find out more information about how to send me your music for consideration. This is a great opportunity for up and coming artists to expose over 5000 active subscribers worldwide to their music, so, don't be shy! If your music is selected, I will of course provide links back to you.

This podcast is dedicated to my friends over at http://www.lounge-radio.com/ and is the second installment of my "Space Traveler" series. You can check out the first installment HERE.

This month I decided it was time to get back to my roots and dive in to a more progressive side of downtempo music. I am a HUGE fan of deep, Progressive House/ Breakbeat music and I have been for over a decade. It is nice to see that a lot of what make progressive music, well, "progressive," is also utilized quite often in downtempo and chillout music. The "music" in a song tends to be more important than the beats and rhythm and that is what really defines this style. Rich, complex melodies that invoke emotion are key to Progressive music and this month's episode is an example of just that... at a slower tempo. smiley

In this episode I have decided to start things off with an hour of very deep, dark, moody tracks. The first hour touches the "darker" side of chillout by utilizing minor and diminished keys. This gives the set a very haunting feeling, but, it is also incredibly melodic. This is something new for this show but do not fret! After the first hour I slowly lighten things up a bit as I make my way though songs in major keys to ensure that you are left with a postive vibe. I do not want to take you TOO deep after all! Enjoy.

Here is this month's tracklist...

01. Malik Trey- Sleepy Shadows

02. H.U.V.A. Network- Morning Call (Dawn Remix)

03. Klute- Torrential Pain

04. Pako & Frederik- Percunia (P+f Chillout Mix)

05. Miika Kuisma- Trying My New Wings

06. Beatkonexion- Glut

07. Trentemoller- The Forest

08. Dex Aquaireean- Snow Fall

09. Omni Trio- Haunted Kind

10. The Architex- Altitude

11. Tom Middleton- Astral Projection

12. Talisman & Hudson- Leaving Planet Earth (GU10 Edit)

13. Northern Skyline- Afterglow Of Sunset

14. Samantha James- Deep Sunrise

15. Ladder- Transmission You

16. Sine- Cross that line (Surfers Cut)
