<itunes:summary>Join me on a journey in to the chilled out worlds of Lounge, NuJazz, Downtempo, Chillout, House, and Latin Rhythm music.

This Podcast is intended to be a monthly show in which I will explore all things jazzy, funky, and chilled out!

SO WHY LISTEN? I love Electronica. I seek out House, Progressive, and Breaks BUT, sometimes your ears have just had enough!

Sometimes you need something a little less synthetic. Sometimes you need to just throw something on that is positive and relaxing, something to create a vibe, no, A MOOD.

My sets are a good choice when you need to create a colorful backround for great conversation with friends during cocktails or dinner. They are also great to throw on when you just need to chill, catch up on some reading, or have a nice nap.

This is not Ambient, you need ryhthm, but not in your face. Its jazzy, its smooth, heck, it can even be progressive. But, I will never take you too deep and I will never create anything but POSITIVE VIBES.</itunes:summary>

Urban Cocktail Hour 03-07-07

Take some smoothed out lounge music, add a splash of hip hop, and stir in a little jazz for mixer and you have got an "Urban Cocktail Hour!" If you like your cocktail hours loungy and your hip hop jazzy, you'll love this mix!

For this month's mix, I found myself inspired to play music with a little more acid jazz and hip hop influence. I marked it "Explicit" because there are a few random curse words but it is far from offensive. There are plenty of sultry melodies, great vocals and smooth rapping to fill out this sexy hour long episode. I really think the live acts I saw this month influenced my choices in grooves. I saw The Roots and Solillaquists of Sound perform live this month and had a great time. Next week I am going to see Kid Beyond and cannot wait!

On a personal note, I submitted a remix of Vieux Farka Toure's "Ana" to CCMixter.org's remix contest. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this month's episode,

Chillin' with The chola

I just wrapped up my first mix for 2007 and it's "so me"... smooth and chilled out! :) This mix is very jazzy and has a mixture of styles but there is definitely an underlying latin influence to it. There are plenty of sax's, funky bass lines, smoothed out rhodes... you know the deal. There are also house, disco, and funk influences in it too. This is definitely a lounge experience!

I really love the fusion of styles and this is the kind of stuff that I actively seek out. Not just the music, but, clubs and DJ's that play it. It's getting a lot harder to find it in Orlando, so if you have any recomendations, by all means let me know.

Download the mix and pop it in on the way to work tomorrow. It's guarenteed to get you tapping your hands and feet and will certainly put a smile on your face! Better yet, download it tonight, pour yourself a martini, grab your girl (or your man), bust out some of your best latin dancing and get those hips gyrating and your juices flowing! ;)

Here is the track list...

01. Ohm Guru- Hotel Capri (Cybophonia mix)
02. Stealth Band- Inner City Life
03. Roy Ayers- Sugar (Joey Negro Mix)
04. Karminsky Experience- Belly Disco (Beatfantastic Mix)
05. Kevin Yost- Ever After You
06 Thievery Corporation- The Heart's a Lonely Hunter (Louie Vega Mix)
07. Belladonna- Ebatule (Ennio Style samba funk mix)
08. Frederico Conti- Suono Piano
09. Thunderball- The Road to Benares (Bombay Dub Orchestra Mix)
10. Plej- Lay of the Land (Jimster's Vocal Mix)
11. The Juju Orchestra- Kind of Latin Rhythm (Smoove Remix)
12. Meloman, J Lanza- Desgarga
13. Joe Bataan- Chick-a-boom (Chris Joss Mix)
14. Bonobo- On Your Marks
I hope you enjoy,
Textured Beats 05-02-08

This month's podcast is dedicated to the TextureDJs who produce one of my favorite podcasts anywhere, "Transatlantic Grooves." The TextureDJs play some of the most eclectic genres of music from brokenbeat, to jazz, to funk. Their sets seem to be somewhere between old and new, full of warm vintage charm, almost as if you were listening to your old 45's.

Unfortunately the TextureDJs seem to be M.I.A. ;) Last I have heard, "A few trips to Kenya have gotten in the way of regular podcasting." I hope all is well fellas, and, I just wanted you guys to know that there are quite a few people out here having withdrawals without our monthly doseage! :)

If you believe that imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, then lets continue! This month I have put together my own eclectic mix of old and new to come up with my own "vintage 45 sound." I have found some terrific brokenbeat, funk, and jazz as well as a couple of excellent mashups that will transport you back to more simple times. In fact, I even whipped together a couple mashups of my own for this one!"

This show is all over the place, but, was quite fun to create and is bound to leave you with a smile on your face. Enjoy!
