<itunes:summary>Join me on a journey in to the chilled out worlds of Lounge, NuJazz, Downtempo, Chillout, House, and Latin Rhythm music.

This Podcast is intended to be a monthly show in which I will explore all things jazzy, funky, and chilled out!

SO WHY LISTEN? I love Electronica. I seek out House, Progressive, and Breaks BUT, sometimes your ears have just had enough!

Sometimes you need something a little less synthetic. Sometimes you need to just throw something on that is positive and relaxing, something to create a vibe, no, A MOOD.

My sets are a good choice when you need to create a colorful backround for great conversation with friends during cocktails or dinner. They are also great to throw on when you just need to chill, catch up on some reading, or have a nice nap.

This is not Ambient, you need ryhthm, but not in your face. Its jazzy, its smooth, heck, it can even be progressive. But, I will never take you too deep and I will never create anything but POSITIVE VIBES.</itunes:summary>

The TextureDJs play some of the most eclectic genres of music from brokenbeat, to jazz, to funk. Their sets seem to be somewhere between old and new, full of warm vintage charm, almost as if you were listening to your old 45's.

Unfortunately the TextureDJs seem to be M.I.A. ;) Last I have heard, "A few trips to Kenya have gotten in the way of regular podcasting." I hope all is well fellas, and, I just wanted you guys to know that there are quite a few people out here having withdrawals without our monthly doseage! :)

If you believe that imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, then lets continue! This month I have put together my own eclectic mix of old and new to come up with my own "vintage 45 sound." I have found some terrific brokenbeat, funk, and jazz as well as a couple of excellent mashups that will transport you back to more simple times. In fact, I even whipped together a couple mashups of my own for this one!"

In the past year I have been given the opportunity to seek out independent artists and labels that I dig, and, to try to give them the credit that they truly deserve by hopefully providing a medium that they can use to expose the world to what they do best.

While my doors are always open, last month I put out an "open call" for independent artists to submit their music AND, for listeners to recommend artists that I might enjoy. I had a great response and this month's show has been defined by the people that contacted me!

In this month's episode of the "Chill with the Chola" podcast, I would like to introduce you to a selection of music submitted from new artists and, new music from old friends of the show. The show is an eclectic mix of genres from underground hip-hop, nu-jazz, chillout, and downtempo and mixing this set has left me feeling kind of like a mad scientist. Well, maybe like a crazy conductor of a super cool symphony! :) ENJOY!

Thanks to all of you that contacted me this month!

<itunes:summary>In the past year I have been given the opportunity to seek out independent artists and labels that I dig, and, to try to give them the credit that they truly deserve by hopefully providing a medium that they can use to expose the world to what they do best.

Good Morning Space Travelers 02-08-08

This podcast is dedicated to my friends over at http://www.lounge-radio.com/ and is the second installment of my "Space Traveler" series. You can check out the first installment HERE.

This month I decided it was time to get back to my roots and dive in to a more progressive side of downtempo music. I am a HUGE fan of deep, Progressive House/ Breakbeat music and I have been for over a decade. It is nice to see that a lot of what make progressive music, well, "progressive," is also utilized quite often in downtempo and chillout music. The "music" in a song tends to be more important than the beats and rhythm and that is what really defines this style. Rich, complex melodies that invoke emotion are key to Progressive music and this month's episode is an example of just that... at a slower tempo. :)

In this episode I have decided to start things off with an hour of very deep, dark, moody tracks. The first hour touches the "darker" side of chillout by utilizing minor and diminished keys. This gives the set a very haunting feeling, but, it is also incredibly melodic. This is something new for this show but do not fret! After the first hour I slowly lighten things up a bit as I make my way though songs in major keys to ensure that you are left with a postive vibe. I do not want to take you TOO deep after all! Enjoy.
